Local man jailed after allegedly breaking into doctor’s car

A local man is in the Lamar County jail after allegedly prying out the window of a doctor’s car at a Forsyth gas station August 10 and stealing a .45 caliber pistol, iPad and day planner. From Will Davis, Monroe County Reporter: A Lamar County man will be charged with theft by taking in Monroe County in the theft of a local ER doctor’s briefcase at a North Lee Street Shell station on Aug. 10. According to the incident report, at about 11:16 p.m. on Aug. 10, Officer Terrance Thomas of the Forsyth Police Department went to the Shell gas station on North Lee Street where a Monroe County Hospital ER physician, Dr. Frdaneil Britt Boyd, said his vehicle, a black 2014 Audi Q7, had been broken into while he had gone inside the store to get coffee. Boyd said when he came back outside, he saw his passenger side window had been shattered. Boyd said his briefcase, which contained a Ruger 45ACP 1911 stainless steel Commander handgun valued at $750, an Apple iPad 4 valued at $700 and a Hartman leather day planner, was missing from his vehicle. Thomas then reviewed the store’s surveillance tape, which showed a white male suspect pulling up to pump No. 3 before getting out of his vehicle and walking up to Boyd’s. The suspect then pulled out what appeared to be a screwdriver and pried out the glass window. The suspect removed Boyd’s briefcase before getting back into his vehicle and heading out toward North Lee Street. Forsyth Police Chief Keith Corley said two days after the incident involving Boyd’s vehicle, Barnesville Police responded to a call concerning a smashed window of a gray Ford F-250 truck. Corley said Barnesville Police arrested Ricardo Pizzi, 52, of Lamar County and believed Pizzi is also responsible for the theft of Boyd’s briefcase. Corley said Forsyth Police have not yet recovered Boyd’s gun but Boyd’s iPad was traced to a woman in Clayton County, who said she had received it as a gift.
