Two Lamar County men, pilot Tommy Lenhart and passenger Charles Bowden, suffered only minor injuries Monday morning when their Cessna 172 aircraft went down near Chesterfield, South Carolina. The men were inspecting a pipeline when the plane lost power. Lenhart told authorities the problem may have arisen from bad fuel. Lenhart was forced to put the plane down in a wooded area. The men then walked to a home in the are and called for help. They were treated at a local hospital and released.
