Local players reap football honors

Several Lamar County High School football standouts and one other player with local connections have earned postseason honors. Trojan quarterback Mike Bloodser garnered honorable mention status as an athlete on the Georgia Sports Writers Association Class AA all-state football team which was released Christmas eve. Bloodser led a contingent of fellow Trojans named in the honorable mention category by the Macon Telegraph in its GHSA All Middle Georgia list. Bloodser made that list as a quarterback. Other Trojans on the list were runningback Nick Fambro, linebacker Rodnique Brown, defensive back Devin Couch and placekicker Daniel Huggins. In addition, John Byron Strauss, a senior offensive lineman at Stratford Academy, was named to the Telegraph’s All Bibb County second team. He is the son of Jeanie Smith May of Macon and John Strauss of Covington and the grandson of Eileen Smith of Barnesville and Judge E. Byron Smith of Jackson.
