Locals injured after river trip

Four local people were injured Sunday evening in a one-vehicle accident in Upson County following a river trip. Local volunteer firefighter Nathaniel Rooks was driving a truck which overturned, injuring himself and three members of his family. Nathaniel’s injuries were minor. Most seriously injured was his sister, Shanda Rooks, a longtime employee at United Bank here. Shanda was in ICU at the Macon Medical Center Monday with a broken vertebrae in her neck but was expected to be moved to a private room. ‘She is really banged up but it looks like she is going to be okay,’ bank COO Doug Tuttle reported. Another sister, Jordan Thompson, suffered a broken pelvis. Her husband, Darrell Thompson, had a concussion. Both have been released.
