Local legend Stan (Hambone) Hamrick added another heroic chapter to his life story Wednesday night when he thwarted a robbery at the home of his parents, June and Junior Hamrick, on Hwy. 36 West. Three black males came to the home, rang the bell and said they were delivering pizza from Pizza Hut. The Hamricks had not ordered pizza. Hambone went out the back, circled around the house, confronted the would-be robbers as they attempted to flee and fired multiple rounds from his Glock into the ground near the vehicle. The men fled in a 90s model Buick. Authorities are investigating. ”Thank God everybody is okay. If it hadn’t been my birthday, I wouldn’t have been there,” Hambone said.
