VFW Post 6542 on Old Hwy. 41 near Milner will host an all-day Independence Day celebration Wednesday featuring fireworks at dusk and a day full of benefits for local legend Stan ‘˜Hambone’ Hamrick who is locked in a valiant battle against cancer.The celebration begins at 9 a.m. A poker run for Hamrick is planned. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. Riders are asked to contribute $10 per bike and $5 per passenger.Lunch will be served for a donation. There will be a cake walk, dart poker, and a casting contest with live music all day. Hamrick, who coined the phrase ‘Lookahere now’ operated the now closed Hamrick’s Sporting Goods and Pawn Shop until his cancer worsened.
