Mrs. Mable L. Deraney, age 83, formerly of Barnesville, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at Gracemont Assisted Living in Cumming, Ga. Mrs. Deraney was born in Smithfield, N.C., on Dec. 26, 1930. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lewis; husband of 53 years, Joseph Andrew Deraney Sr.; sons, Richard M. Deraney Sr. and Jim M. Deraney; and grandson, Richard M. Deraney Jr. Mrs. Deraney was co-owner/operator with her late husband of Deraney’s Department Store in Barnesville, Ga., for 41 years. Survivors include her sons and their spouses, Dr. Stephen A. and Anita Deraney, Joseph A. and Tammy Deraney and Robert C. Deraney; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Mable L. Deraney will be on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter The Rock Catholic Church in The Rock, Ga. Father Liem Nguyen will officiate.
