Man charged in bomb incident at PGP site

A construction employee has been charged with reckless conduct in connection with a bomb scare at the Piedmont Green Power construction site at Legacy Park. Joshua Davis Lundy was charged with reckless conduct by Barnesville police, according to investigator Al Moltrum. Lundy may also face federal charges brought by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The device was described as a galvanized pipe filled with magnesium. An electrical charge is needed to ignite magnesium and none was present. Lundy, an employee of Zachry which is building the green power plant, made the device on site. He said he was going to take it home and blow up watermelons, Moltrum said. Zachry employees found the pipe bomb at 10:41 a.m. Tuesday. GBI bomb squad personnel rendered the device harmless using remote robotics technology. Work resumed at the site at 2:47 p.m.
