Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies were summoned to the 1600 block of Smith Road around 9:20 p.m. last night, April 1, 2014 in response to a call from a motorist who was being assaulted by a pedestrian.According to the victim, John Adam Bevan, 32, of Forsyth, he and his family were traveling north on Smith Road when he noticed a man, identified by deputies as Christopher Bryan Bunn, 37, standing in the road. When Bevan stopped his vehicle, a Ford Explorer, Bunn attempted to enter the vehicle through a rear door on the passenger’s side. Bunn gained entry to the vehicle through the door, where four children were seated, and ordered Bevan to ‘Go, go, go ‘“ move, move,’ and attempted to reach the accelerator. Bevan exited the driver’s seat and attempted to remove Bunn from the vehicle, who began choking the front seat passenger, Terri Lynn Barbour, 32, of Forsyth. During the physical struggle, one of the children in the back seat was kicked under the chin by Bunn. Bevan removed Bunn from the Explorer during which time that same child was pulled out of the vehicle by Bunn. Bevan then wrestled Bunn to the ground and held him there until deputies arrived. When deputies arrived they handcuffed Bunn and found him to be unresponsive. EMS transported Bunn to the Monroe County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His body has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for autopsy. Cause of death is unknown and no weapons were used by either party in this incident. This incident is under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
