Man shot multiple times in Griffin

On Sunday April 19 at approximately 11:28 p.m., officers of the Griffin Police Department responded to a call of a person shot at 111 Crawford Street. Upon arrival officers found the victim, 59 year old James Prather lying on the front porch of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. According to witnesses and evidence gathered at the scene, a confrontation between Prather and the shooter occurred inside the residence that resulted in the shooting. At least two two weapons were recovered near the scene. Prather was transported by Life Flight to Grady Hospital where he currently listed in critical condition.  Sergeant Sommer Bales of the Griffin Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. More information regarding the shooting will be released as soon as it becomes available.
