Man who sold meth from church-owned home in Milner off to prison; customers busted

A 50-year-old man busted for selling meth from a church-owned home in Milner last October entered a guilty plea to one count of trafficking in meth in Lamar superior court March 5 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, 10 years probation and fined $200,000 by Judge Tommy Wilson.

A raid on the home at 149 Main St. resulted in the arrest Thomas Edward Bernard Wood. Deputies found 2.5 ounces of meth, 10 hits of LSD, digital scales and paraphernalia used in packaging meth for sale. At the time of the bust, Wood was already on felony probation for a previous meth conviction here in Lamar County.

A search warrant was issued for his phone and a review of text messages on it led to the arrests of seven of his alleged buyers.

“Wood admitted selling about a half pound of meth a week from the residence. He picked up four to six ounces twice a week most weeks. The other folks we arrested messaged with him, ordering meth from him in amounts ranging from one gram to three ounces. He was making some serious money,” Sgt. Keith Kendrick of the LCSO narcotics unit.

Destiny Cheyenne Carraway, 35, of 801 Old Milner Rd. was arrested Dec. 15 and charged with aggravated assault, use of a communications facility to commit a felony involving controlled substances and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s controlled substances act. Two counts of felony obstruction and two counts simple assault were added later.

Joshua James Carraway, 45, of the same address was arrested Jan. 5 and charged with use of a communications facility to commit a felony involving controlled substances and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s controlled substances act.

Arrested that same week and facing the communications and conspiracy charges were Nora Jean Daniel, 62, of 208 North St.; Patricia Dawn Kitchens, 47, of 210 Cook Rd.; Seleeta Danielle Landes, 38, of 333 Camp Rd.; Michael Chad Maddox, 48, of 179 Yancy Rd.; and Serenity Cocus McClure, 49, of 156 Circle St., Forsyth.

All those cases are pending indictments.

Multiple other charges against Wood were dropped as part of his plea deal.
