Mrs. Margaret Cox Owens, age 92, formerly of Lamar County, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 in a Sumter County Healthcare Facility. She had been a resident of Magnolia Nursing Home in Americus for the last five years. Prior to that, she was a long time resident of Thomaston and Milner, GA. She was a member of Clarks Chapel Baptist Church in Thomaston. Daughter of the late John Robert and Josie Cox, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. E.D. “Hut” Owens; by two brothers, Olin Cox and Pete Cox; by her sister, Lois Scarborough; her beloved daughter, Vicki Bohnenstiehi; and Granddaughter, Lori Ballard.Survivors include: Her Son – Reggie Owens and wife, Dianne, of Albany; Grandson – Brad Owens of Houston, TX ; Grandson – Ryan Ballard and wife, Amy, Great Grandchildren-Troy & Katie of Zebulon; Nieces-Joyce Woods of Thomaston and JoAnn Woodall of Flovilla.A Memorial Service for Mrs. Margaret Cox Owens will be conducted Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11 O’clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Hanna officiating. Interment will be held privately.
