Mrs. Margie Grace Ross Vaughn, age 92 of Milner, is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior.She is safe in the arms of Jesus having left her earthly body on Thursday, March 5, 2015.Mrs. Vaughn was born in Lamar County on January 22, 1923. She is preceded in death by her parents, Larris A. Ross and Nannie Mae Harper Ross; husband, Jesse Clifton Vaughn; granddaughter, Jennifer Bishop Hawkins. Margie and Jesse wed January 5, 1946 and were married for 65 years. Mrs. Vaughn was a 1940 graduate of Milner High School, retired from Spalding Knitting Mill, and a faithful and devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church, until her declining health prevented her from attending. She taught Sunday school in the children’s department, worked in VBS, played the piano and enjoyed singing alto in the church choir, and with family and friends for many years.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda V. and Don Nail, daughter, Janice V. Bishop, all of Milner; grandchildren, Jessica Bishop Smith and husband, Stephen of Milner, Jason Bishop and wife, Rebecca of Sharpsburg; great grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, Hunter, Hannah and Bryan; sister and brother-in-law, Larris and Gerald Vaughn of Milner; brother-in-law Allen Vaughn of Milner; sisters-in-law, Gerry Vaughn of Austell, Ellen Vaughn of Williamson, Daisy Vaughn of Jonesboro; step-sister, Betty Peek Jones; several nieces and nephews.Visitation for Mrs. Margie R. Vaughn was on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service was conducted on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Swayne Poole will officiate.
