Marshall T. Hooks of Dawson has been hired as president of the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. He was one of two candidates called back for a second interview and the chamber board voted unanimously Dec. 19 to offer him the job which he accepted.”We are quite excited. The new energy and enthusiasm he brings to the board are contagious. He is an historian and fell in love with Barnesville immediately,” board treasurer Jan Hatten reported.Hooks currently serves is a similar position in Blakely-Early County. He will work out a notice there before moving to Barnesville. He will be here for the chamber’s strategic planning session on Jan. 16.Hooks has an associates degree in political science from Darton College and his bachelors degree from Georgia Southern. He earned a masters degree in public management from GSU in May.While getting his education, he worked several positions at GSU. He also served a stint as an intern for Congressman Sanford Bishop.
