Martha Parrish Elliott

Mrs. Martha Arvilla Parrish Elliott, age 93, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 in a Cobb County healthcare facility. A native of Millen, she had made her home in Barnesville for most of her life. Daughter of the late Mr. Henry Homer Parrish and the late Mrs. Lucy Arvilla Rast Parrish, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Trumie Culpepper Elliott Sr.; by a brother, Mr. Henry Parker Parrish; and by her sister, Mrs. Julia Parrish Simms. Mrs. Elliott was a school teacher and had been employed at the Gordon Grammar School for a number of years and even continued teaching and tutoring in her home as long as she was able. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Mrs. Elliott is survived by two sons, Trumie Culpepper Elliott Jr. of Springfield, Ky., and Henry (and Maetha) Elliott of Kennesaw; and three grandchildren, Christopher (and Amanda) Elliott of Grayson, Melissa Suzanne Elliott of Cumming and Amy Lauren Elliott of Atlanta. Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Elliott will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with the Rev. Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The family has asked, that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, 200 Zebulon St., Barnesville, Ga., 30204.
