Mary Kathryn Matthews Duckett, age 76, died peacefully Nov. 25, 2015, at home after a long illness. Kathy was born March 28, 1939, in Barnesville, Ga., the daughter of James Robert Matthews Sr. and Emily Kathryn Klugh Matthews. Kathy thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, art and crafts and horticulture. She graduated from Gordon Military High School and Gordon Military College where she was an honor student. Kathy retired from Upjohn Laboratories where she was employed as a medical laboratory analyst. In 1959 Kathy married Harold Eugene Duckett Sr. Together they have three children, Harold Eugene Duckett Jr., (Gene), Kathryn Elaine Robbins, (Kacy) and Robert Glenn Duckett, (Robbie). Kathy was a member of First Baptist Church of Barnesville, Ga. During her life, she served as a volunteer in various community organizations in Metro Atlanta. Kathy is survived by her husband Harold Eugene Duckett Sr.; and her children, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eugene Duckett Jr, (Gene and Sharon), Kathryn Elaine Robbins and fiancé Daryl Brock (Kacy and Daryl), and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Glenn Duckett, (Robbie and Janet), all of Lawrenceville, Ga; step daughter, Alice Lindsay Duckett Venter and husband Maarten J. Venter.; five grandchildren; Katheryn Lorraine Sanders (Kat), Kyle Indiana Robbins, (Kyle) and Christopher Steven Duckett (Chris) and Morgan Venter and Annie Venter; brother and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. James Robert Matthews Jr.; one niece and two nephews; and a number of other relatives and close friends. There was a Service to Celebrate the Life of Kathy Duckett at Tom M. Wages Funeral Home, Lawrenceville Chapel, 120 Scenic Highway, Lawrenceville, Ga. on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. The family received friends Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
