Mary Louise Pendleton Manry passed away on Oct. 24 at the age of 80.Mary was born Feb. 1, 1933 in O’Donnell, Texas, to Jimmie and Rachel Pendleton. She grew up in west Texas among the cotton fields and cattle ranches. After her marriage to Jack Manry, she moved to Georgia and then Alabama where she worked as a nurse for 22 years. Mary also volunteered at the Huntsville Hospital information desk every Tuesday evening for over 17 years. She was a member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church. After retirement she continued to enjoy sewing, crocheting and collecting antiques. Mary especially enjoyed traveling out west along with visiting her home state of Texas.She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack H. Manry; children Becky McDougal (Johnny) of Huntsville, Kathy Elliott (Allan) of Monrovia and Jimmy Manry (Sally) of Athens; grandchildren, Jim McDougal of Washington, D.C., Jaclyn Stursma (Jon) of Atlanta, Amanda Elliott of Huntsville, Lauren Hart (Kevin) of Athens and Clint Manry (Rachel) of Athens; and three great-grandchildren.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jim Wells, and Frankie and Bobbie Pendleton; and by her granddaughter Amie Katherine Elliott.The funeral service is Monday at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ala., followed by burial at Huntsville Memory Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Huntsville Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of North Alabama. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers for their kindness and loving care of ‘Mary Jac.’
