Barnesville mayor Peter Banks and city councilman Sammie Shropshire have drawn opposition in the upcoming municipal election in November. Banks will be challenged by Wanda Sumners Brothers. Brothers lives at 305 Redbud Drive and is a bus driver for the local school system. Shropshire drew opposition from Dorothy Carter of 323 Forsyth Street. She is retired from the U.S Air Force.
