Speaking to the Macon Touchdown Club, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson had high praise for the LC3 – former Trojans Lance and Lawrence Austin and Qua Search.Additionally, a Virginia Tech fan was so impressed by the demeanor of the twins last Saturday as Tech won on the road against the Hokies, she wrote a letter to The Herald Gazette praising them. Here is what Johnson had to say, according to the Macon Telegraph:Meanwhile, a pair of freshmen from Lamar County are seeing time on defense, while a third is about to receive a tryout on the defensive side. Both Lance Austin and Lawrence Austin have appeared in all four Georgia Tech games so far. Lawrence Austin has six tackles and an interception, while Lance Austin has four tackles and a break-up.Qua Searcy, meanwhile, might be in for a position change.’Searcy started at wide receiver in camp, and it looked like we would redshirt him,’ Johnson said. ‘We want to move him to the secondary on the by week and see what he can do over there.’This is what Virginia Tech fan Billie Jean Elmer wrote:I am a huge Virginia Tech Hokie fan and my seats are four rows up behind the opposing team. During the VT vs Georgia Tech game I observed two players who did their part to push their team to a win. I watched with interest the enthusiasm of number 17 and number 20 and soon realized they both had the last name of Austin. I looked them up and saw they were brothers from Barnesville, Ga. I yelled to one at the end of the game and he not only came over to talk to me but brought his brother.I told them I am a huge Hokie and hate to lose but I watched them keep pumping up their teammates. Both young men spoke to me with manners and showed class, maturity and positive character. Hokie hats off to Lawrence and Lance Austin’s parents.Their parents would have been proud of the positive representation of Georgia Tech football today.
