Merle T. Hale

Merle T. Hale, a devoted wife and mother and resident of Barnesville, GA passed away unexpectantly January 19, 2024 after a brief illness.
Aunt Merle, as known to friends and loved ones, was born in February 11 of 1931 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was one of 9 children (last of her siblings) to parents Loren Tillett and Esmeralda Midgett Tillett. She was proceeded in death by her son, Grover Edward Carroll Jr., Husband, Grover Edward Carroll Sr., and 2nd husband Charles Hale.
She met and married Grover E. Carroll Sr. and raised their son Grover E Carroll Jr. After 46 years of marriage he passed away and she later married Charles Hale who also preceded her in death. She worked at home as a hairdresser occasionally.
She is survived by many nephews and nieces unto the 4th generations.
She loved reading, especially her Bible, listening, singing, and playing gospel music, as well as making gospel records. She was a member of Bethel Temple and Tidewater Gospel Assembly in Norfolk, Va. While attending there she played the organ and participated in the music of the churches. Lastly, she was a member of Mid Georgia Gospel Assembly, Barnesville then Zebulon, Ga. She was a collector of antiques specializing in dolls. She was frugal yet generous. She would speak her mind when prompted and very loving. She was loved and will be deeply missed.
Pastor Lester W. Talley Jr. will officiate a Celebration of Life service for Merle T. Hale at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Mid Georgia Gospel Assembly, 6225 US Hwy. 19 South, Zebulon, GA 30204. She will be buried in Norfolk, Virginia in Memorial Gardens later with her husband of 46 years and son, the Carroll’s grave sites.
In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be sent to Mid Georgia Gospel Assembly, 6225 US Hwy. 19 South, Zebulon, GA 30204.
