Milner cleans up code violations

Milner solved two of its six code violation cases with simple letters to owners that resulted in cleanups of nuisance yards, city council heard at its June 8 meeting. ”That’s pretty good for just a couple of months,” said city attorney Scott Mayfield. “All of them were from letters we sent and so far no one has had to go to court.” For the four other property owners, some in various stages of cleanup, the next step would be a citation if they do not meet Milner’s 90-day deadline. ”Some of them concerned complaints of rodents,” said Mayfield. Progress is being made on other cited properties. The shell of a restaurant that burned out nearly two years ago has been cleaned up inside but has not yet been boarded up.
