That meeting will be the last for James Bevil, who is selling his home and moving to Griffin. ’I’ve got things to do before the move,’ Bevil said Feb. 11. ‘I think we’ve made some progress since I’ve been here. I’ve really enjoyed it.’ Since Bevil’s term is up this year, city attorney Scott Mayfield will check to see if a new council member can be appointed or if a special election must be held. Commissioner Roger Samples noted he was appointed in July and Mayfield said at one point a vacated seat was left empty while awaiting an election.
