Due to the winter weather, the Pretty for Prom kickoff was rescheduled. The new date is Thursday, Feb. 27 from 6-8 p.m. at the Beautique/Sun Solace.’Prom should be a very memorable experience and is often thought of as a main highlight during a student’s junior and senior years of high school,’ said organizer Becky Patterson. ‘Due to the declining economy and certain family hardships several students here in Lamar County won’t be able to enjoy this memorable event without our assistance.’Pretty for Prom lets citizens and businesses collaborate to assist students. The group is seeking donations in the form of dresses, services and money to help provide an outstanding experience for students in need.To help bring more community awareness to this initiative, the Pretty for Prom Kickoff and drop in will feature some of the dresses that have been collected on display.’We’ll also have some service providers and participants from last year’s program on hand to share information about their experience with this initiative,’ said Patterson.’We’ll have a raffle for a red Michael Kors bag filled with goodies. Tickets are $2 each. We’ll also accept dress donations. We look forward to seeing you on this special night and thank you in advance for your support of this program.’It has been confirmed that Miss Georgia 2013, Carly Mathis, will be here on prom day to help with getting ready and provide encouragement for the participants. Last year Miss Georgia 2012, Leighton Jordan, said she really enjoyed her experience in Barnesville, Patterson noted. For information, to become a sponsor or to make a donation contact Patterson at 678-588-8404, Alana Appleby at 912-755-7056 or visit facebook.com/PrettyforProm.
