Miss Susan Walter

Miss Susan Margaret Walter, age 47, of Covington, Ga., passed away March 2, 2013 at her residence. She was born March 30, 1965 in Atlanta, Ga., daughter of the late Hawley Walter and Judith Johnson Walter of Thomasville, Ga. Susan was a 1984 graduate of Randolph-Clay High School in Cuthbert, Ga. She loved 80s music, dancing, traveling, shopping and Cabbage Patch dolls. She enjoyed going to the beach. In her teenage years she liked gymnastics and she participated in the Special Olympics, winning a gold medal in bowling. Susan loved the time she spent in the day programs for special needs adults: Thomas-Grady Mental Retardation Service Center in Thomasville, Pike-Lamar Service Center in Barnesville and Independent Enterprises in Covington. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.R. and Eloise Johnson of Coleman, Ga., and Hawley and Sara Walter of Rome, Ga. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Beverly Walter of Zebulon; nephews, Stephen and Charles Walter of Zebulon; aunt, Margaret J. Cofer of Alexandria, Va.; cousins, Steve Grantham and wife Neelam of Suwanee, Ga., Pam Grantham Pierce and husband Jon of Perry, Ga., and David Grantham and wife Christy of Centerville, Ga. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, March 6, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 7, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with pastor Carl Scroggs officiating. Interment will be held at 4 p.m. in the Vilulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Coleman, Ga. Moody-Daniel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
