MLK Day events set for Monday

Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 is the day on which the birth and life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be celebrated. Again, the theme is, A Day On. ’It’s a day on which we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and teach our children about the past to avoid their making the same mistakes in the future. We make a commitment to Dr. King’s dreams and ideals and encourage others to do the same,’ said King Day committee chair April Smith. ‘I challenge you to use your day on to further the dream of Dr. King and move on to make America a better nation. Let’s have new attitudes and responses to meet the new situations of today.’ The celebration will start with a parade at 9 a.m. from the E.P. Roberts Center. Participants may enter floats or cars or march to the courthouse for a short program. Marchers will return to the center for more activities and refreshments sponsored by the Dewaine T. Bell Difference Makers. For information call 770-358-3311.
