MLK marchers brave cold for tribute

A large crowd of marchers took part in MLK Day festivities Monday morning in downtown Barnesville. Participants marched from the E.P. Roberts Center to the courthouse for a program and back. The program was coordinated by April Smith. Mayor Peter Banks gave the welcome and Rev. Dana Overton-Garrett delivered the invocation. Sherry Truby stepped in to give the keynote address for her husband, Dr. Bill Truby, who woke up very ill Monday morning. Marcus and Martin May recited Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech from memory.
