A Lamar County man sentenced to prison last week for child molestation and sexual exploitation of children could have been stopped back in 1985 but a similar case against him then was not pursued. Thomas Mark (Tommy) Smith, 54, of 143 Chappell Mill Road, Milner, entered guilty pleas to two of the nine charges against him. He allegedly fondled the vagina of a girl under the age of 16 three times, lay on top of her while kissing her and had her rock back and forth while she sat on his lap. Smith was charged with fondling the breasts and genitals of a girl under the age of 14 back in 1985. That case was dead docketed in 1986.
