Monroe deputies arrest alleged serial thief

Monroe County deputies have arrested a 19-year-old suspected of stealing items from unlocked cars. The full release from Allison Selman-Willis of the Monroe S.O. follows: A Monroe County man has been arrested and charged in several cases involving stealing items from unlocked cars. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigators received a tip that David Allen Waring, 19, was taking items such as GPS systems, iPods, cameras and guns. MCSO investigators executed a search warrant at the Betsy Lynn subdivision home where Waring was living on OCT. 12, 2011. Waring was arrested at the residence and investigators located a stolen 9mm handgun. The investigation is on-going and investigators have linked Waring to several cases in which items were taken from cars. The incidents began in July and kept recurring through September. David Allen Waring is being charged with five felony counts of entering an auto and one felony count of criminal use of an article with altered ID (the gun found on the premises had the serial number scratched off). He was denied bond and is being held in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
