Monroe deputies make big I-75 cocaine bust

A Marietta woman has been charged with trafficking cocaine after she was stopped by Monroe County deputies on I-75 on Feb. 8, 2013. Deputies Deputies were working traffic enforcement near mile marker 191 around 7:45 a.m. when an off-white Lincoln Towncar, driven by Stacey Link, 40, of Marietta, drove by with an improper tag display. A Monroe deputy stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver about her traffic offenses. Link gave deputies permission to search her vehicle and the MCSO K-9, Blue, alerted that drugs were in the vehicle. Upon the vehicle search about 1.3 lbs. of powdered cocaine was found hidden in the area where the windshield wiper mechanisms were housed while another bundle was found under the dash. Link was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, following too closely and obscuring a tag frame. She was denied bond and she is being housed at the Monroe County jail. -Allison Selman-Willis, MCSO
