via Allison Selman-Willis, MCSOA Monroe County employee has been charged with felony theft by taking after misappropriated county funds were discovered and reported to the Commissioners’ Office.A subsequent investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office resulted in a warrant for multiple counts of theft by taking/breach of fiduciary responsibility for Kim Romine, 45, on July 30, 2012. According to MCSO investigators Romine made at least 10 automatic payments to personal accounts for cell phone, car insurance and natural gas charges using a county owned credit card. The charges were made between 11/01/2010 through 07/02/2012 and totaled around $11,325.00. Romine’s employment by the Monroe County Commissioners’ Office as a Deputy Clerk was terminated on July 30, 2012. Romine turned herself in to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office’s Jail on July 31, 2012 and was released on $7,500.00 bond. The investigation into the case continues. Mug shot is attached.
