Monroe County sheriff John Cary Bittick is urging area residents to be aware of a scam discovered by Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies on March 4, 2013. According MCSO Investigators, deputies stopped a gray-colored 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with a raised wooden bed and the words ‘Continental Logistics’ with a phone number (800-479-3185) lettered on the side of the truck. The truck also had an Ohio tag. The bed of the truck contained several items of equipment including Tahoe Generators, a pressure washer and an air compressor. The driver told the Investigators that he delivered the products to a company in the area and the deal fell through. According to the driver the deal was worth $17,000, but he did not want to drive back to Ohio with the products and would be willing to sell the items for $6,000.Investigators researched the items and discovered that the selling of Tahoe brand items was a scam and found several articles on websites related to this type of scam.Investigators told the driver along with a man who said he was the driver’s supervisor that they cannot sell a product door-to-door without a peddler’s permit. The men were not arrested or charged with a crime. If anyone comes into contact with this company please contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Division at 478-994-7043.
