Moore, Cronic dealerships escape GM’s ax

When ‘˜Dear John’ letters from General Motors were going out to some 1100 dealerships around the country Friday, Ben and Doris Moore at Moore Chevrolet weren’t worried. ‘There was not much anxiety. We thought we had been doing a really good job. We never got too big for our britches. The ones that did got themselves in trouble,’ Ben Moore said Monday. His 56-year-old dealership survived the cuts which will revamp GM’s dealership landscape next fall. Cronic Cheverolet in Griffin also survived GM’s ax. Cronic Chrysler Jeep was also spared in Chrysler’s cuts. Others were not so fortunate. Thomaston Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Thomaston is being forced out as is the Harry Lewis dealership in Jackson.
