Moore selling Chevy dealership

Ben Moore is finalizing negotiations to sell Moore Chevrolet to entrepreneurs from the Peachtree City area with experience in power sports and development. Reportedly, the buyers are Ted Stuckey, Rod Stuckey and Chris Gibson. Rod Stuckey said they are excited about getting involved in the Barnesville community. General Motors has approved the transaction which will include the property along Veterans Parkway extending from Barnesville Motel to Bankston Lumber. Employees were informed about the pending transaction on June 14. The plan is to retain Ben Moore, his wife Doris and all employees. Related operations in Forsyth and Thomaston will continue. The entire group will operate as Stuckey Chevrolet. Moore said negotiations involving franchises are very difficult but he expects the closing to be completed in the very near future. Benjamin Moore, Ben’s dad, bought the dealership in 1952. He came here from Taylor County where he had a de-linting plant, cotton gin and planing mill. He was also a bus driver. Ben joined his father here in 1953. ‘I was graduating from Georgia Tech. I had a job lined up at IBM. Dad asked me to come help him for two weeks. I agreed and I never left,’ Moore said. The Moores said they were grateful for the most loyal group of employees around and the fact that they are now serving their fifth generation of customers here in the Barnesville-Lamar County area.
