Motorcycle crash kills man

A 70-year-old Lamar County man was killed Friday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a building in Johnstonville. James Boyt, 70, died at the scene of the crash. He hit the old brick store building located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Van Buren and Johnstonville roads in the historic old settlement on Johnstonville. Survivors include a sister, Linda Beck. Visitation is planned for Tuesday, February 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 23 at 2 p.m. also at Williams Funeral Home. For those who would like to participate, there will be a motorcycle procession from Boyt’s home to the funeral home for the service. Those wishing to ride should be at the Boyt home by 1 p.m. Wednesday. More on this story as it develops.
