Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday afternoon when a man in an SUV pulled out in front of him at the intersection of High Falls and Chappell Mill roads near the Lamar-Butts line. UPDATE: Both the motorcyclist and the SUV driver have been identified. The male on the motorcycle was stabilized at the scene by a doctor who happened upon the scene and EMTS. He was then lifeflighted to an Atlanta trauma center. His condition is unknown. The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. UPDATE: The motorcyclist is Christopher Jones, 44, a science teacher at Pike County High School. He was in serious condition at Altanta Medical Center Monday morning. The SUV driver was identified as 68-year-old Dexter Stanphill of Fayetteville.
