Mrs. Dorothy Edwards

Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, age 80, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte, N.C., where she had moved from Barnesville, Georgia, in August 2022 to be near her beloved daughters and their families.
Dorothy was born Dorothy Ann Clark on August 28, 1942, to the late Theodore and Helen Clark, and she grew up in a loving home filled with three brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Milner High School and later moved to Northern California, where she married and raised her daughters while working for the cable company. In the 1980s, she returned to her hometown of Barnesville. She worked in the offices of the William Carter Company in Griffin for many years. In February 1988, married her childhood neighbor and family friend, Larry Joe Edwards. Dorothy and Larry shared 34 years of devotion to each other and their families, friends, and church family at Aldora United Methodist Church, before Larry passed away from Parkinson’s Disease on April 4, 2022.
Dorothy was a loving and kind wife, who cared for Larry at home during his long illness, and she was a devoted mother, stepmother, and grandmother who deeply loved her family. Her survivors include four children and their spouses, Beverly and Ronnie Hendrix of Mint Hill, N.C.,Sharon and Marc Montgerard of Indian Trail, N.C., Blake and Christina Edwards of Griffin, and Marla Edwards Goncalves of College Park; four grandchildren, Dietrich Eppley, Brandon Montgerard, Annabel Goncalves, and Gavin Goncalves; her brothers and their wives, Ray and Christine Clark of Chicago and Wayne and Glenelle Clark of McDonough; and her sister, Linda Aubrey of Riverside; her sister-in-law, Nancy Roberts of Griffin; and brothers-in-law and their wives, Donald and Roselle Edwards of McDonough, and Gary and Donna Edwards of Barnesville, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Dorothy Edwards on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at Aldora United Methodist Church (170 Aldora Street, Barnesville) with the Reverend John Roberts officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those who would like to honor Dorothy’s memory may donate to Aldora Methodist Church or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
