Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Melissa Stokes Tyler, age 48, of Athens, GA on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from injuries received in a automobile accident.Funeral services will be Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. She was a member of the Governor David Emanuel-Adam Brinson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Emanuel Rangers Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Northeast Georgia Chapter – Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts. Other community involvement includes Clarke County Mentor Program/ Clarke County Mentor Board Treasurer, Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary, having severed as (Membership Chair, Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Tour of Homes Chair), Junior League of Athens with extensive leadership rolls as (Koffee Klinic Chair, Arnocroft Committee, Festival of Trees Preview Party Chair, Festival of Trees Committee Chair and Corresponding Secretary). Also the University Optimist Club (secretary, treasurer), Leadership Athens Class of 1998, Chi Omega House Corporation (Assistant Treasurer), Athens Nurses’ Clinic Board Member and was an active member of the Athens First United Methodist Church and Children’s Sunday School Teacher.
