Murder, arson cases on trial calendar

The cases against alleged killer Jamarris Latuan Wiliams and the man charged with burning down his family’s restaurant are on the pre-trial calendar for Lamar superior court next month. Williams’ case is on the pre-trial calendar for motions and other matters April 11 but he will not go to trial on the trial dates April 29. Jamarris Latuan (Man) Williams, 24, entered not guilty pleas in February to one count of malice murder, three counts felony murder, two counts aggravated assault, armed robbery and hijacking a motor vehicle nn connection the the murder last year of Barnesville cab owner John Dixson. Dixson’s body was found dumped in a ravine off Forsyth-Yatesville Road in southeast Lamar County on March 17, 2012. Prosecutors allege Williams summoned Dixson for a ride, hijacked the cab, stabbed Dixson in the neck and left him to die along the isolated roadway. Williams was arrested quickly after the crime. Also on the calendar is the case against Stephen Neal Brehaut who reportedly has confessed to intentionally setting the fire that destroyed the Lighthouse Restaurant July 10. Brehaut was part owner of the restaurant. Brehaut, 37, admitted to setting the fire to collect insurance money. He has been charged with one count of insurance fraud in addition to the one count of first degree arson.
