Henry Murphy could be called the parent who stayed. After nearly 30 years with the county parks and recreation department, he has been named the new assistant director.Murphy began at the rec department 30 years ago, when Ed Taylor was head of the program. In that time he has coached, served as grounds maintenance and supervised all athletic programs.”I do a little bit of everything,” said Murphy.Before coming on board at the rec department, the Lamar County native worked 12 years at the Al Burruss Correctional Training Center in Forsyth. He has been married to Albertine Murphy 31 years and they have three children, Cherry Demetrius, Henry Jr. and Jerrell Murphy.
