Myrtle Manry Matthews

Mrs. Myrtle Manry Matthews, age 95, of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Matthews was born in Goggins, Ga., on Oct. 6, 1917. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy R. Manry and Mae Fleming Manry; husband, Douglas W. Matthews; sisters, Elizabeth Barron and Miriam English; brothers, Leon J. Manry and John W. Manry. Mrs. Matthews was an active member of Second Baptist Church and the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. Survivors include sister, Rebecca Dukes; sisters-in-law, Frances Manry and Sarah Manry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Myrtle M. Matthews was on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Cannady officiated. Interment followed in Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lamar County.
