National Day of Prayer will be observed at the Christian Family Life Center of Barnesville First Baptist Church on Thursday, May 3, from 12:10 to 12:40 p.m.The 2012 NDP theme is ‘One Nation Under God.’Leading hymns and the National Anthem will be Greg Burrell, First Baptist’s minister of music. Pre- and post-service music will be brought by the Lamar County Comprehensive High School Concert Band directed by Ancheyl Green.Rev. Garth Forster will give the welcome. Lamar County Sheriff Larry Waller will represent the county.Responsive reading will be led by Rev. Jay Tenney of Barnesville First United Methodist Church. Singing special music will be Norma Greenwood, the curriculum director of Lamar schools.The prayer of confession will be led by Rev. John Norman, of Marvin and Milner United Methodist churches. Presenting the colors will be the LCCHS JROTC led by Maj. Paul Stinson. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by school superintendent Dr.Bill Truby.The Pledge to the Christian Flag will be led by Rev. Jeffery Morgan, of Antioch Baptist Church and the NDP devotional will be brought by Rev.Craig Ogletree of Greater Spring Hill Baptist Church in Milner. The Prayer for the Nation will be led by Rev. Ben Taylor of Milner Baptist Church and the Benediction will be led by Steve Pattison, seniors and care pastor at Rock Springs Church.Lunch will be available at 12:40 p.m. for a $1 donation towards the Lamar Christian Ministerial Association fund at the church kitchen. The LCMA fund goes to help individuals and families in need.
