New hoops coaches named

By Sherri Ellington With the addition of two basketball coaches at the high school, Lamar County schools are approaching full staff. Welcomed on board at the June 9 board of education meeting were new high school head basketball coach Greg Freeman and assistant coach Biff Parsons, who will also lead the track team. ”Greg is an excellent basketball coach and a great young man,” said superintendent Dr. Bill Truby. Parsons, a graduate of Liberty University will also teach health and physical education. His wife Anna will teach math at the high school. Other hirees include middle school band director Robert Tanner, primary teacher Rebecca Ritch and new bus aide Maureen Dwyer. ”This is a great group becoming part of the Trojan family,” said Dr. Truby. “We’re close to having everybody everywhere they need to be. We’re in good shape.”
