School board members and administrators are still looking at candidates to replace District 3 member Susan Byars who resigned earlier this year.’We are still considering options at this point. We hope to have a plan in place by the Feb. 11 board meeting,’ school superintendent Jute Wilson said last week.Byars last ran for office in 2016 without opposition. Her term of office runs through Dec. 31, 2020. State law and local policy require the remaining board members to appoint a replacement from her district to fill the unexpired term.In stepping down, Byars said she no longer felt she could be ‘an effective voice on the board’.
No appointee yet for Byars’ school board seat
