The Lamar County commission voted prematurely Tuesday night to appoint Bobby Burnette to the board of directors of the Department of Family and Children Services when there was no vacancy on the board to be filled. The commission appointed Burnette to the board slot formerly held by Sid Cheatham who died recently. However, Cheatham was replaced on the board over two years ago, according to current board chair Bob Taylor. Taylor said board members and DFCS personnel are working to correct the error.
