By Robert Heiney If you’re like most Americans, your time is occupied trying to pay your bills, bring up your children, and if you have any time left over, volunteer in your community. It’s stressful and exhausting. Average Americans have little time for politics or watching their elected thugs in government. The royalty occupying their splendid digs in Washington DC however, spend their time and your tax dollars thinking of new ways to meddle in your personal affairs. Take for example the latest rules to come down from her Highness Hilda Solis; the latest soviet-style Commissar in the Obama White House to issue edicts controlling the serfs. According to ‘The Daily Caller’ which broke the story, and confirmed at http://www.dol.gov/whd/childlabor.htm; ‘The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land.’ There’s more. Once again from The Daily Caller; ‘Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work ‘in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials. Prohibited places of employment,’ a Department press release read, ‘would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.’ The Department of Labor apparently believes youth training by the 4H Club and Future Farmers of America is woefully inadequate. Here’s their solution, taken from the Dept of Labor website; ‘Remove the two certification programs that allow 14- and 15-year-olds, after receiving very little training, to operate most tractors and farm implements without supervision.’ The Daily Caller reports youth would be forced to take a government certification program instead if they wished to work on the family farm. Most people will sit idly by because this federal intrusion doesn’t affect them. Only family farmers will be trampled on, in this case, by the heavy hand of a federal government run amok. And they are a minority. This is how the federal government continues to violate the constitutional rights of Americans wherever they can get away with it. Unless of course, you scream at your elected officials and demand they put a stop to it. We can put a stop to this insanity right here in Georgia. Here’s how. First, demand that Governor Nathan Deal stand in between our farmers and the violators of our constitutional rights ‘“ namely the federal government. This can and must be done. Deal must declare that any federal agents trying to impose this royal edict on our farmers will end up arrested and thrown in state prisons. Second; demand that our potted plants in Congress and the Senate actually wake up, and earn their fat paychecks for a change. Start by taking substantial and measurable steps to eliminate unconstitutional agencies like the Department of Labor. We actually have someone running for Congress locally, who claims he will do this. Third; find ways to cut-off funding to the federal government. It is like a huge cancer, fed by a massive series of blood lines carrying our tax dollars incessantly to an ever growing monstrosity. While the possibility exists that the Department of Labor may ultimately back down and only implement this rule on non-family owned farms; it’s still wrong. No federal government agency has the right to intervene between my family and our farmers. If the state wants to create legislation, then so be it. Nothing in the US Constitution permits this insane action from a federal agency ‘“ that shouldn’t even be in existence. In the meantime, why not give the three stooges in Washington DC from our district a call and see if they’ll do anything for you regarding this latest federal intrusion?
