A comparable simple (and perhaps more mainstream) existence is that of Jay Shafer, founder of Tumbleweed Tiny Houses, who has been living in an 89 square foot home since 1997. Shafer’s decision came as some concerns over the impact of a larger home on the environment began to surface within him. He did not want to maintain a lot of unused or unusable space.
