The first wrestling match in Barnesville since 1974 came into town Saturday night attracting 721 adults and children to the gate. Hosted by the Lamar County recreation department and sponsored by Top Rope Entertainment, the evening saw WWE legends such as Indestructible Jay Batista, One Warrior Nation, The Nature Boy Chic Donovan and hometown favorite Big Steel. Buddy Lanier, Athletic Director for the Lamar County recreation department, was optimistic about the future of the partnership. Says Lanier, “After watching how much the kids enjoyed the evening, absolutely we would hold another. It might not have been for everyone in the community but over 700 people seemed to have a great time…including me!”
