Old scoreboard comes down at Summers Field

Work has begun in earnest on the transformation of old Summers Field in the heart of Barnesville from high school football stadium to city park. Several dead trees have been removed and city workers spent much of last week rerouting the storm drain under the historic stadium. On Tuesday, the old scoreboard came down as did a smaller, electronic sign nearby. Summers Field was abandoned at the end of the 2008 football season. Trojan Field opened in August, 2009.
