The scene is chaotic but witnesses said a shooter or shooters in a silver car opened fire, hitting three people.

One person, reportedly a female, is dead in a home at 107 Cary J. Buckner St., just off Mill Street. One badly hurt victim was rushed to an area hospital by ambulance.

Another victim with lesser injuries was also transported by ambulance.

UPDATE: A GBI crime scene unit arrived on scene at about 8:15 p.m. Additionally, the victims were apparently on Cary J. Buckner Street when shot. The two female victims were at the home at 107 Cary J. Buckner and the male was across the street filling a car with gas from a five-gallon container when the shooting started.

The male victim, identified by witnesses as Andre Byrd, was apparently gassing up this car from a five-gallon can when shot. (Photo: Walter Geiger)
