The Herald Gazette has filed a Freedom of Information Act request for multiple financial records connected with the construction and ongoing operation of the Milner Library. Notice was hand-delivered to Milner city hall Monday with copies addressed to mayor Joe Bostwick, city administrator Wayne Patterson and library board chairman and city council member George Weldon. Of particular interest are records associated with a grant for library construction which was received in 2011. The library was not completed until earlier this year. There are also questions about funding for ongoing operation of the facility. These questions have created an undercurrent of distrust that boiled over after a zoning dispute. Under Georgia’s open records law, Milner has three full business days to respond. In a related development, it was learned Patterson suffered chest pains over the weekend and was hospitalized.
